I'm Going, Going, Gone Quick!

Yeah, I really struggled to come up with a clever and catchy title for this post, so that’s what I ended up with. At any rate, I’ve got an announcement that’s a bit overdue. After some sixteen months of working from home with some of the smartest folks around I’ve decided to shake things up a bit. I guess just couldn’t stay away from all of the water cooler chats, office parties, and crummy coffee. That’s right, I’ll be heading back into an office for the J-O-B. My new office digs Today was my first day as...

SpyDeny Says "Hello World!"

I don’t usually use by blog to pimp products, err... wait, sometimes I do. But it’s only because I really like those products and I want to share them with you, dear reader. OK, let’s get back on track... The super-smart consulting company I work for has just announced our first product, SpyDeny. In two sentences, SpyDeny fights back against web scraping. The product was developed to address a growing issue faced by web-enabled companies, losing data and IP to competitors through web scraping and harvesting. Visit the official product site over at SpyDeny.com for the why,...

Koders Gets Haacked

Phil recently went public with his pending career shift - he's leaving VelocIT to make waves at Koders. Naturally I wish my friend only the best... but I've got to get something off my chest. My gut reaction When Phil first called me to break the news I thought I took it rather well. I'm News Worthy?

OK, so it's not like I made it on HeadlineNews or something... but it still feels good to see your name in the headline for a news item. And it feels even better when the news is coming from your employer - VelocIT Hires Steve Harman. Admittedly, this is somewhat old news, but I just noticed the announcement yesterday so it's exciting (to me)! Besides, I've been meaning to blog about this transition for a while now and this gives me an excuse. The story As the news items says, I was introduced to VelocIT (pronounced: vuh-los-i-tee) by company co-founder Phil...

SQL Server Installation and MSDTC

While setting up a new VM for an upcoming project I ran into an issue while trying to install SQL Server 2005. During the step with the setup wizard checks all of the necessary components and system configuration settings on your machine it gave me a warning message about the COM Plus catalog Requirement. The message dialog had the following messages: COM Plus Catalog Requirement If SQL Server Setup fails, Setup will roll back the installation but my not remove all .manifest files. The workaround is to rename the files and then rerun Setup. For more information, see...
