CodeMash '07 - I'm in!

Just a quick post to announce that I will be attending CodeMash 2007!

What is CodeMash?

CodeMash – I'll be there! I knew you were going to ask that... so let me give you the lowdown.

CodeMash is a techie conference/event aimed at software development types. Nothing to unusual about that - there are tons of software related conferences held each year. However, what is different about CodeMash is that it doesn't just target a specific platform, vendor, paradigm, language, etc... There are still sessions that cover each of those topics (and way more), but the sessions are organized into tracks.

Each track has a certain focus and the covers a variety of topics related to the focus. To be specific, this year there are five (5) tracks focusing on the following:

  1. Desktop Development
  2. Web Development
  3. Methodologies
  4. Languages
  5. Architecture

If we take a look at one of those tracks (let's pick #2, Web Development) we'll see that the sessions cover everything from Python to .NET, Web Services to Testing, and Networking to Vista Gadgets. And that is just one of the possible tracks. Oh, and there are a couple of pretty big Keynote speakers too.

It's a technology mashup

I think the organizers got it right when they came up with the name CodeMash. It really is a mashup of code and so much more. All types of different languages, methodologies, and trends coming together for a couple of days of techie goodness. Let's just hope that everyone remembers what we're there for so we can avoid any holy wars between the many camps that will be present.

Are you going?

If you're going to be there, let me know and we'll meet up for a beer (or six).

UPDATE:

If you are going to be at CodeMash, what sessions are you planning to attend? Are you going to follow one of the 5 tracks as laid out, or do more of a grab bag/mix-and-match of sessions?

I think I'm probably going to grab bag style myself. There are just so many interesting sessions spread across the various tracks that I won't be able to follow any particular track.

What others are saying.

I'm jealous. Hope you have a good time !

I stopped by at Sandusky while moving cross country last summer. Wasn't much to see around, but it does have the Roller Coaster alleged to be the World's Largest ! I think it may be shut for winter...

I've been to Cedar Point a few times, but it's been several years since my last visit. I think that Mantis was the newest ride the last time I was there... if that tells you anything.
