Yeah, I really struggled to come up with a clever and catchy title for this post, so that’s what I ended up with. At any rate, I’ve got an announcement that’s a bit overdue.
After some sixteen months of working from home with some of the smartest folks around I’ve decided to shake things up a bit. I guess just couldn’t stay away from all of the water cooler chats, office parties, and crummy coffee. That’s right, I’ll be heading back into an office for the J-O-B.
My new office digs
Today was my first day as a full time employee with Quick Solutions. But this ain’t your standard consulting gig - which is good because I’m not down with being a client’s whipping boy. I’ve taken a position with the QSI .net Solutions team. Unfortunately that’s the best official page I could find for describing this particular group within Quick, but unofficially I’d describe the group as
a team of rock star DJ developers working together to build rock solid applications using the best tools at our disposal.
I’m really looking forward to working with the talented folks over at Quick... especially my bloggin' brethren like Jim, Brian, James, and the rest of the team (there are just too damn many of you to name).
Getting busy with .net 3.5
For my first project with QSI I’ll be working with the .net 3.5 framework and making full use of LINQ and the other new language features, so I’m plenty pumped about getting my hands dirty with that stuff. However, I am taking a large step out of my comfort zone as this is going to be a WinForms application... at least to start, and then possibly moved to WPF. Either way its not the web, yikes!
Luckily I’ll be working with Jon, Matt, and a few other smart guys who can help me along. (A note to you other guys, no blog == no name dropping! Get a blog.) Oh... and I think I’ll feel pretty comfortable as those smart guys wisely chose to use a variation of MVP pattern, and they seem to be strong believers in TDD - and I loves me some TDD!
That’s about all the new I have for now. But I plan/hope to get back into posting on a more regular basis, especially with all of the new experiences and challenges I’m sure to face as I learn and put .net 3.5 through the paces.
